Afghan Scarves

About Afghanistan's Scarves

On every corner and in every house you will find men and women wearing pashmina scarves and shawls. Men wear them around their necks as fashion, or as face wraps to cover and protect from dust. Some women wear them as fashion accessories, such as college students and younger more moderate females, while others wear them as a full face shawl or wrap.

Regardless of how you wear it, pashmina is an excellent fabric for scarves as it is durable, thick, and warm. Pashmina scarves are excellent quality and design and often imported from Pakistan, Afghanistan, or India.

The patterns and colors are so original and unique, that I have a hard time choosing, so my closet is full of nearly twenty pashmina scarves! If you are looking for more information, check the link below.

Hi,

i have seen western celebrities use them also as a fashion wear.

What annoys me is that nearly every dancer/emo/celebrity wears one as a fashion item these days. That's all it's become. And they've been renamed "Afghan" Scarves. That's pretty discriminative, considering.

Point is, whilst kids these days(and I don't include myself in this, even though I am ONLY 19) and other people wear them because they came back in.

My one is like 25+ years old and has been passed down from my Mother's boyfriend's Brother in-law, or rather, let's just say my uncle, who had it when they first "came-in" years and years ago. I've worn this thing since I was around 6 and I will continue to wear it as it means something to me, and is not a fashion item.

Andrew I recently purchased two scarves from a Muslim store in the North Jersey area. The shop owner did not act as if he did not want to sell me the scarves in fact; he was very helpful when it came to choosing the color and pattern I would like. So if the scarf’s are so sacred why are they for sale?

The scarf's aren't sacred.
